The Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Moira Thomas, Group Sustainability & ESG Director at Currys, to its Board of Trustees. Moira has been a dedicated advocate of the DPA’s mission, playing a pivotal role in advancing efforts to address and end digital poverty across the UK.
Moira has been instrumental in the development and ongoing success of the Tech4Families initiative, a collaborative programme between the DPA and Currys, one of three founding partners of the Digital Poverty Alliance. This initiative provides essential technology – including laptops and tablets – alongside internet connectivity and digital skills training to families in need. Since its inception, Tech4Families has facilitated over 1,750 device donations, making a tangible impact by helping families across the UK gain the tools and digital skills necessary to participate fully in an increasingly digital society, advancing the DPA’s mission to bridge the digital divide.
Commenting on her appointment, Elizabeth Anderson, CEO of the Digital Poverty Alliance, said: “Moira has been a key partner in our work from the very beginning of our partnership with Currys. Her leadership, expertise, and dedication to sustainable social impact have been invaluable to the DPA’s efforts. We look forward to the insights she will bring to the Board of Trustees as we continue our mission of ensuring digital inclusion for all.”
As Group Sustainability & ESG Director, Moira has driven numerous initiatives that align closely with the DPA’s vision of creating a digitally inclusive UK. She has also led successful fundraising campaigns in support of the DPA’s work, reinforcing her commitment to tackling digital exclusion.
The DPA welcomes Moira Thomas to the Board of Trustees and looks forward to continuing the important work of helping families across the UK access the technology and digital resources they need.
Niel McLean, Chair of Trustees, said: “Moira’s passion, dedication, and extensive experience will be invaluable to the board. Her expertise will undoubtedly enhance our efforts, and the trustees and I are keen to welcome her and collaborate closely on our shared goals.”
