This Giving Tuesday, the Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA) marks a milestone of two million customer micro-donations made at Currys’ UK stores, facilitated by Pennies. These contributions have provided critical funding for technology and digital skills initiatives, directly addressing digital exclusion for families across the UK.
Through the Tech4Families programme, these donations have enabled over 1,700 families to access refurbished laptops and tailored digital support. These resources have supported children’s education, opened pathways to employment for parents, and strengthened connections in today’s digital-first society.
Elizabeth Anderson, CEO of the Digital Poverty Alliance, shared her perspective on the impact:
“Two million donations demonstrate the powerful role Currys’ customers play in addressing digital exclusion. Their contributions have equipped families across the UK with essential tools for education, employment, and connection. This Giving Tuesday, we encourage everyone to be part of building a more digitally inclusive future.”
The collaboration between Currys, Pennies, and the DPA highlights the potential of micro-donations to bridge the digital divide. These small contributions, made during in-store purchases, are directly expanding access to technology and support for those who need it most.
Help Us Reach More Families
In an increasingly digital society, access to technology is essential for education, employment, and participation in daily life. Yet many families remain excluded, unable to benefit from the opportunities that connectivity can bring.
The Digital Poverty Alliance is committed to breaking these barriers, but this work relies on collective support. Your donation can help deliver life-changing technology and resources to families across the UK.
This Giving Tuesday, join us in creating a more connected and inclusive society.
