Fundraising Assistant (voluntary).
Type: Part-time, no fixed hours
Location: Remote
Deadline: 17:00, 26th July 2023
The Digital Poverty Alliance and the Learning Foundation
We are seeking two Fundraising Assistant volunteers to help us meet this aim. Whether you are an excellent writer or story teller, or you love engaging with people, this could be a great chance to gain experience in fundraising or develop your skills in this area within a small team. With a fundraising target, we are seeking people who can bring new ideas and energy to support our mission. These roles will support our income generation strategy, and would be ideal if you’ve had any experience of fundraising before – perhaps at a charity, university society or other voluntary group.
As this is a voluntary role there are no fixed hours or responsibilities. However, you will play a key role in the Foundation and its work, and have the opportunity to be fully integrated within the team and attend team meetings if that works for you. In return for your time, we will give you the chance to develop existing and learn new skills and to be coached by the CEO and other senior staff members. It is a fantastic way to gain an insight and experience within a charity working with high profile partners, and looking to create meaningful social change. It is also a flexible role, for example around studies or other commitments, but we would hope you could commit to attending some regular meetings through the day.
The opportunity could include any of the below – the work will be divided up, so you won’t be asked to take on all of these:
- Story telling: Help to engage more people in understanding what we do, and how we benefit society.
- Outreach: Engaging key stakeholders – for example, individuals, community groups and university societies – to support our work.
- Digital fundraising: Working with others in the team to create compelling content that encourages donations.
- Prospect research: Identifying companies and high net worth individuals to approach for funding.
- Writing proposals: Supporting applications for funding from a range of bodies.
- Developing ideas and opportunities: New ideas are key, we’ll give you the opportunity to try new approaches that fit our charitable mission.
You will be working across the team. What we most want to see is someone who will “get stuck in” and pitch in to support the team, and also be willing to bring their ideas – and not be afraid to share those. This role will be home-based (although you must be based in the UK). There may be opportunities to join meetings or events in London or other UK towns at times. Attending these will not be essential, so if that won’t work for you, that’s not a problem.
As we are a small team, we are especially keen to hear from you if you’ve had any experience of fundraising before. Ideally we would be hoping someone could spend a minimum of ten hours each week on this opportunity. You must have a very high standard of written English in this role.
Please apply by 5pm on 26th July. We will be interviewing as applications come in, so may appoint before the closing date. We are hoping for someone to start asap.
To apply please email elizabeth@digitalpovertyalliance.org with a copy of your CV, and a cover letter explaining your experience and motivation for applying.
